Neolithic human remains. Fossilised neolithic human remains from a cave in Roaix, Vaucluse, France. The skeleton is thought to be around 4500 years old. The jaw and lower parts of the skull are at left, the neck vertebrae are at centre, and the upper chest bones are at right. At this time, the inhabitants of the region were Homo sapiens sapiens, anatomically modern humans.
