Kosmoceras ammonite. Artwork of a Kosmocerus ammonite, showing this marine invertebrate emerging from its shell. Ammonites were marine molluscs that formed a spiral shell to protect their soft body. This species is from the Middle Jurassic Period to Early Cretaceous Period (176 to 100 million years ago).
