Dinosaur. Artwork showing Allosaurus sp, a large flesh-eating dinosaur of the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods; it belongs to the Saurischia order and the Carnosauria group. This animal could reach 11m in length and two tonnes in weight. It was characterised by powerful hindlimbs and short forelimbs, both with three claws, and by teeth with serrated edges; its powerful, muscular tail was used for balancing purposes.
