Velociraptor dinosaur. Artwork of a Velociraptor dinosaur. This small raptor reached just under 2 metres in length and stood around a metre tall. It was an aggressive and agile predator that lived between 80 and 70 million years ago, in the late Cretaceous period. The large claws, especially the sharp hooked claw of the hind legs (lower right), would have been lethal to its prey. This raptor also had a high brain-to-body weight ratio.
