Protoceratops dinosaur (right) defending its nest against a raptor dinosaur, computer artwork. A clutch of eggs is at lower right. Protoceratops was a small dinosaur that inhabited what is now central Asia between 85 and 80 million years ago. Several small raptors also lived in this area at this time, notably Oviraptor, which is thought to have fed mainly on the eggs of other dinosaurs. Protoceratops was a herbivorous dinosaur that reached a maximum length of around two metres.
