Tyrannosaurus rex. Artwork showing a Tyrannosaurus rex (T. rex) feeding on a dead Triceratops dinosaur. T. rex was a large carnivorous dinosaur that lived in North America at the end of the Cretaceous period. It grew to up to 15 metres in length and weighed up to 7 tonnes. Despite having huge powerful jaws and sharp teeth, T. rex was thought to be slow and fed mainly as a scavenger. Triceratops was a herbivorous dinosaur common in the late Cretaceous period, around 70 million years ago.
