Sandstone rocks. These are sedimentary sandstone rocks mainly formed by rounded grains of quartz. Calcium carbonate is also present and it usually derives from the precipitation of shelled marine organisms. Weathering agents and water erosion are responsible for the rounded shape of these rocks. Photographed at Tribune Bay, Hornby Island, Western Canada.
