Eroded sandstone. Patterns on the base of a sandstone cliff, formed by the action of waves washing against it. Sandstone is a sedimentary rock formed by the accumulation of small rock particles. Its surface can be worn away (eroded) by the movement of water. Photographed at Miners Beach on the shore of Lake Superior, in the Picture Rocks National Lakeshore, Michigan, USA.
