White Desert formations, Egypt. These structures have been formed by wind erosion of the white chalk that forms the desert sands in this region. The White Desert (Sahara el Beyda) is near the oasis of Farafra, and is within the Libyan Desert, a desert that forms the eastern part of the Sahara.
