Scree slope at Wastwater in the Lake District. Scree is an accumulation, at the bottom of a cliff, of weathered rock fragments of varying sizes. The fallen bits pile up usually at an even angle of rest. An individual pile of scree tends to be part of a cone tapering up into a gully, as seen here.
