Mount Collon, Switzerland. Peak of Mount Collon at an elevation of 3637 metres in the Swiss Alps. The mountain is at the end of the Arolla valley, and is covered in deep snow, even in summer. The snow forms overhanging masses, called cornices, along the summit ridge. These break off at intervals and avalanche down the rocky slopes below them. One of these unstable cornices is seen at lower left.
