Caption

MacDonnell mountain range, Australia, satellite image. North is at top. This is the George Hills range, the south-western part of the MacDonnell mountain range, which is a major mountain chain in the centre of Australia. These extremely ancient mountains have been heavily eroded to reveal the folded rock strata patterns seen here. Image data obtained on 20 July 1990.
