Rainbow Bridge. Satellite image of the gorge that is crossed by the Rainbow Bridge (centre), one of the world's largest natural bridges. Its height and span are both about 85 metres. It is found in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, Utah, USA, and it is classified as a National Monument. The water at lower left is part of Lake Powell, formed when the Glen Canyon Dam was built. One way to get to Rainbow Bridge is a 2-hour boat journey on Lake Powell to the mooring point at lower left. Another route is hiking for several hours across a desert terrain of sandstone rocks. Image taken by the Ikonos satellite on 7 July 2003.
