China's Songhua River in flood, satellite image. Following the summer monsoons this river has burst its banks. The Songhua river flows for 1840 kilometres, draining Manchuria in northern China. In this image it is flooding the surrounding paddy fields, part of the yearly cycle which helps speed the growth of the rice crops in the paddy fields.
