Caption

River Dee estuary. Exposed mud flats of the River Dee estuary at low tide. An estuary is the final part of a river where it broadens as it flows into the sea. The water levels will rise and fall with the tides. The island of Hilbre is on the horizon at right. The River Dee flows into the Irish Sea near the northern part of the Wales-England border in the UK. Photographed from the Wirral shore near West Kirby, England, looking north-west.
