Wheat grain silo. Worker using a vacuum device to remove grain from a wheat silo. Wheat (Triticum sp.) is one of the world's major cereal crops. The grain is obtained from inside the husks that grow on the top of the stalks of the wheat plants. The grains can be ground up to produce flour for use in making bread and pasta. Wheat grains are a rich source of carbohydrate, used to generate energy in the body. A silo is an air-tight container used on farms to store wheat grains and other crops.
