Sisal plantation. Rows of sisal plants (Agavaceae sisalana 'Perrine'). Sisal, a succulent native to Central America, is grown for the fibres extracted from its leaves. They are used for making rope, canvas and speciality paper. In the background is a baobab tree (centre, Adansonia za). Photographed in Madagascar.
