Fertiliser pellets. Handful of fertiliser pellets above a sackful of pellets. Fertilisers are used to add the elements nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium to the soil, mostly in the form of nitrates and phosphates. These are vital for plant growth and development. Natural fertilisers such as manure can be used, but these pellets have been chemically manufactured in solid form for ease of application.
