Caption

Lime to spread on field. Terra-Gator (left) being loaded with lime for a field of cotton stubble after the autumn harvest. Lime (the white mound) consists of calcium compounds (such as calcium hydroxide), and is used to reduce soil acidity and restore balance to soils deficient in lime after crop harvesting. Cotton (Gossypium sp.) is a crop used to make cotton clothing and materials. This truck is a Terra-Gator 2505, a model introduced in 1976. Terra-Gators are specialised farming trucks used to spread liquids or solids over fields. Photographed in Mississippi, USA.
