Cardiff. Aerial image of Cardiff, the capital of Wales. North is towards top. The Welsh national rugby stadium, the Millennium Stadium (lower centre), was being constructed at this time. This stadium lies beside the River Taff. To the north- east of the stadium are the ruins of Cardiff Castle. Various buildings including the Law Courts, City Hall, National Museum of Wales, part of Cardiff University and the Welsh Office, surround a rectangular formal garden to the north- east of the Castle. Cardiff Central railway station is south of the Millennium Stadium. The scale of the image is 1:42,000 at 6x6cm size. This photograph was taken on August 17 1993.
