City lights of Buenos Aires, Argentina's capital city, from space. North is at upper left. Across top are the unlit waters of the River Plate, the great Atlantic Ocean estuary on which this port is located. The brightest area (at the centre of the city's coastline), is the old city centre. Several major highways can be seen running out towards the darkness of the surrounding farms. Photographed on 8 February 2003, by one of the Expedition 6 crew on the International Space Station (ISS).
