Jerusalem, Israel. Satellite image of Jerusalem, the capital city of Israel. North is at top. The area shown here is about 8 kilometres across. The central area, about 4 by 4 kilometres, contains the modern and ancient parts of the city. Just right of centre is the Old City. Just left of centre are high-rise buildings in the city centre. The Old City is dominated by the pale pink area of the Temple Mount, which includes the Dome of the Rock (round). Hills surround the city, down right and at left. At far left, the white building, on a hill in a park, is the Knesset, where the Israeli parliament meets. Image taken by the Ikonos satellite on 15 February 2000.
