Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Park. Satellite image of the Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Park (the rectangular area), in Tapei, the capital of Taiwan. The Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall (blue roof, lower centre) was opened in 1980, and was built as a memorial to Chiang Kai-Shek (1887-1975), who was leader of the Republic of China (ROC) from 1928. Following the Chinese Civil War (1926-1949), the government of the ROC retreated to Taiwan. Communist Party of China.
