Castel Gandolfo, Italy. Satellite image of Castel Gandolfo, a small town in Italy, 30 kilometres southeast of Rome. It is best known for a 17th century building designed by Carlo Maderno, which is the Pope's summer residence. The town is also known for its lake, Lago Albano (black, right). Image taken on 29 July 2001 by Space Imaging's Ikonos satellite.
