Planned London Olympics site, aerial photograph. North is at top. This image shows the area in East London, UK, around the River Thames, where most of the stadiums and facilities will be built for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games. The main Olympic site (the Olympic Park) will be in Stratford (upper left) and along the Lower Lea Valley, and lies on a line running northwards from the Millennium Dome (white, on River Thames, near centre). The area, in 2005, is mostly industrial estates and wasteland that will, by 2012, be developed into sports arenas and the Olympic Village. Other Olympic venues will be the ExCeL centre (by docks at centre right) and Greenwich Park (lower left).
