Berlin, Germany, satellite image. North is at top. This is the city centre, on the banks of the River Spree. The large park at centre left is the Tiergarten. The north-south line running through the park's eastern end is where the Berlin Wall once stood. The Brandenburg Gate marks where the Tiergarten's east-west road leaves the park. The Reichstag, the German parliament, is next to the park's north-eastern tip. A large railway station is at upper left. The area shown here is about 8 kilometres across. Berlin is the capital of Germany, and its largest city. Image taken by the SPOT 5 satellite on 8 February 2002.
