Perth, satellite image. Perth is the capital of the Australian state Western Australia. It lies on the Swan River, which flows westwards into the Pacific Ocean. Perth has a population of nearly 1.5 million (2005). It is the most remote mainland city on Earth: the majority of Australia's population lives on the east coast of the country. This image was taken on 6th September 2003.
