Squatter camp with living places built on the side of a hill. A wide range of materials has been used to build the structures seen here, including wood, glass, corrugated iron and plastic tarpaulins (for the roofs). Settlements like this often lack basic amenities such as running water, sanitation, and electrical power. Without proper foundations, the houses may be swept away during heavy rainfall and flooding. Photographed in Durban, South Africa.
