Asbestos removal. Workers wearing full-body protective suits and breathing masks clear asbestos from the interior of a building. Asbestos is a health hazard when its fibres are inhaled into the lungs. Diseases linked to asbestos exposure include asbestosis, lung cancer and mesothelioma. Asbestos was widely used in the past as a building insulation material and many older buildings contain substantial quantities.
