Rubbish dump. Piles of tin cans and plastic waste at a garbage incinerator. Many incinerators sort waste before burning it, and some types of metals and plastics may be recycled. Alternatively, the waste is burnt to produce energy. Molten metal can be sold to the scrap metal industry, but the ash from burning plastics is usually toxic and has to be disposed of with care. Photographed in Toronto, Canada.
