Car exhaust. Thermogram of the exhaust pipes on a motor vehicle that has recently been running. The pipes are still warm from the hot gases which result from the combustion of its fuel. A thermogram shows the variation in temperature on the surface of an object, measured by the long-wave infrared radiation it emits. The temperature scale is colour-coded and runs from black (coldest, 1.1 degrees celsius) through blue, green, yellow, orange, red and pink to white (warmest, 67.1 degrees celsius).
