Air pollution sensor. Technician assembles a measuring chamber used in a gaseous emissions measurement system. Such sensors are necessary to enforce pollution regulations. Major sources of gaseous emissions include cars, industry and restuarants. Cars produce sulphur dioxides, nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons, ozone and particulates (smoke particles). Industry produces a variety of emissions, particularly sulphur oxides and particulates. Restaurants are a major source of hydrocarbon pollution; these emissions come from fats and oils heated during cooking.
