Landfill gas flare at a former landfill site. Landfill gas (LFG) is a potentially hazardous gas composed predominately of methane and carbon dioxide. It is produced during the breakdown of biodegradable waste. The vents allow the gas to escape from beneath the ground. Photographed in Northfleet, Kent, UK.
