Seashell trade. The sale of seashells and coral to tourists has been targeted by the Ministry for the Environment in Djibouti. While the trade can bring a profitable income for local merchants, it is damaging to the marine ecosystem of the Indian ocean that surrounds the country's coastline. This could have devestating long term effects on the country's economy which heavily relies on tourism.
