Carbon trading is done in units of carbon dioxide. This is the main greenhouse gas that contributes to man-made global warming, also known as anthropogenic global warming (AGW). It is thought that the main increases in carbon dioxide are due to the burning of fossil fuels (such as coal) for energy.
