Moche ear shields. Golden ear shields made by the Moche people and worn as ornamental head gear. The scenes depict a Moche figure and a snake-like creature. The ear shields were found at a Moche archaeological site in Peru. The Moche people were a pre-Hispanic people that lived in coastal river valleys in northern Peru. Their civilisation reached its height in the period from 100-700 AD.
