Broch of Gurness, Orkney, Scotland. This stone structure was built between 200 BC and 100 AD. It consists of a hollow tower surrounded by three concentric rings of earthworks and ditches. Archaeological evidence from the site indicates that the tower and surrounding settlement were later inhabited by Norse peoples.
