Marigold (Calendula officinalis) flower. This can be used medicinally in infusions for treating wounds, as it has an anti-inflammatory effect, and reduces pain. It is also used to treat bee or wasp stings. Drinking an infusion of marigold flowers helps to reduce a high temperature, as it promotes perspiration. As well as these medicinal uses, the flower can be made into a colourant for butter, and marigold oil can be used as an ingredient in perfumes. The petals of the flower are edible, and can be used to brighten salads. It is a popular garden plant as well, due to the long life of its flowers.
