DNA molecule and binary code. Computer artwork of the atomic structure of a DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) double helix (down centre) and the ones and zeros of binary code. The atoms are colour-coded: carbon (white), hydrogen (blue), oxygen (red) and phosphorus (orange). The helix is composed of two twisting sugar-phosphate strands that are linked by complementary pairs of four types of nucleotide base. The sequence of bases on a single strand determines a genetic code that is unique for every individual. This biochemical DNA coding controls the functioning of every living organism. Binary code, used in computing, encodes information and instructions using on and off states (0 and 1).
