DNA molecule. Artwork of the structure of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). DNA is composed of two sugar-phosphate strands (light blue) twisted into a double helix. Between the strands are nucleotide bases (green, orange, yellow and red). There are four different bases: guanine, cytosine, thymine and adenine. DNA contains sections called genes, which encode the body's genetic information.
