DNA BioChip. Results of a DNA analysis by a DNA BioChip, seen on a computer screen. The yellow dots represent positive test results. The DNA Bio- Chip allows cheap and rapid simultaneous analyses for infectious organisms in samples of blood and food. Dots containing samples of DNA are placed on a glass slide. Each individual dot contains a different piece of DNA, all of which are designed to bind to a specific gene on the DNA of one of the organisms to be tested. After applying the sample to the chip, it is scanned by a laser, which causes any dots showing positive reactions to light up. The DNA BioChip is made by BioChip Technologies, based in Freiburg, Germany.
