DNA autoradiogram projected onto a hand. The bands (dark on light) of the autoradiogram show genetic sequences. The bands correspond to the nucleotide bases in a DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) sample. The banding pattern shows the precise sequence of the bases that forms a genetic code that is unique for every individual. DNA controls the development and functioning of every living organism. The four DNA bases are: adenine, thymine, guanine and cytosine.
