Genetic research, conceptual computer artwork. DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) is a helical molecule that is partly shown in the flask (lower right). The spiralling DNA strands are linked by nucleotide bases (horizontal). The sequence of the four types of base varies, making up a genetic code that is unique for every individual. Among other things, it determines human facial features, represented by the wire-frame models at left. DNA's genetic code controls the development and functioning of an organism. It is found in cell nuclei, in the form of chromosomes (x-shaped, upper right).
