Bioenergy research. Technician working at a sugar juice concentration pilot plant. This plant has been designed to concentrate the sugar juice derived from sweet sorghum plants in order to avoid any possible auto-degradation of the juice. The sugar juices are then transformed through fermentation into ethanol which has several applications in the transport sector. It may be used as a fuel for engines and as a substitute for lead in petrol. Following the extraction of sugars, biofuels such as gas and oil, may be obtained from the dry pulp (bagasse) of sweet sorghum plants.
