Researcher at a light microscope injects a sheep egg with an udder cell during cloning of "Dolly", the first sheep cloned from an adult cell. On the screen a rounded sheep egg cell is seen (upper centre). At left a pipette holds the egg which has had its nucleus removed; at right a needle contains an udder cell which is being injected into the egg. A spark of electricity then fuses these cells into one and stimulates an embryo to grow. The cloned embryo is implanted into the womb of a surrogate sheep. Research conducted at the Roslin Institute in Edinburgh, Scotland.
