Immune system research. Scientist examining a model of a part of the chemical structure of Immunoglobulin G (IgG), one of a group of related proteins that function as blood serum antibodies in immune responses. The modelled section is known as the Fc fragment. Antibodies are synthesised in lymphoid tissue in response to the presence of a particular antigen & circulated in the blood plasma to the troubled site. The body makes a huge range of antibodies, each with a slightly different structure. All immunoglobins contain a binding site, which fits, binds to, & inactivates foreign materials entering the body.
