Antibody research. Researcher uses a microscope to select a single antibody-secreting cell (fluorescing on screen). Antibodies are proteins that are part of the immune system. Here, SLAM (Selected Lymphocyte Antibody Method) technology improves antibody selection. Candidate antibody-producing cells can be rapidly screened to find the cells producing the best antibodies. SLAM technology can simultaneously screen for antibody binding and for antibody functionality. The process takes weeks rather than months as previously. Photographed at Celltech's Slough research laboratories, UK.
