Plant pathologists using a magnifying lens to compare varieties of tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea). The variety seen at the bottom of the lens is a variety susceptible to rust, a disease caused by a fungal parasite that leads to reddish patches on the leaves. The variety seen at the top of the lens is a resistant variety.
