Turtle research. Marine biologists performing an ultrasound scan on a loggerhead tur- tle (Caretta caretta). One is holding a transducer to its neck. After checking the turtle's health, it is released back into the wild. A transmitter allows its movements to be followed. This data is used to help protect these turtles from extinc- tion due to human activities. Photographed at the Anton Dohrn zoological station, Naples, Italy.
