Tree frog research. Male biologist using a pipette during research on Phyllomedusa bicolor, an Amazon tree frog. This frog produces peptides (small chains of protein-forming amino acids) from its skin glands. Some of the peptides have pharmaceutical properties, namely as painkillers (dermorphins) and antibiotics (dermaseptins).
